#PhillyDieIn Protest After Eagles; Necrophilia Motive in Padgett Murder; Pay Cash at PPA Kiosks Mond

A group of local protestors took over the intersection at Broad and Pattison immediately following Sunday's Eagles' loss to stage a 'die-in' demonstration in light of perceived injustice following recent grand jury decisions in New York and Ferguson, IL. The interfaith group Philadelphia Organized to Witness Empower & Rebuild (POWER) organized the protest and advertised it would be happeneing. At 7:45 pm around 200 people laid down in the northeast corner of the intersection for 4 ½ minutes. Police set up to allow the peaceful protest and created a buffer from the 1,000's of fans leaving Lincoln Financial Field. That didn't stop a few rowdy fans letting them know what was on their minds. There weren't any significant altercations and there were no arrests. The intersection was closed for about 20 minutes.

Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli said on Friday that necrophilia was the motive in the murder of a 33-year-old mother, newlywed, and daycare worker last month. Jessica Padgett left work to run errands around lunchtime on November 21st and never returned. Her car was found in a parking lot about a mile away. Five days later, Padgett's 53-year-old stepfather Gregory Graf confessed to shooting her and burying her body under a shed on the property he shares with her mother. From the start investigators thought there was a sexual component to the crime. Last week, investigators discovered a video on Graf's computer of him having sex with the corpse. Abuse of corpse is not an aggravating factor for the death penalty like sexual assault of a live person. Graf was denied a public defender and is being held without bail in Northampton County Prison.

The PPA had 'relaxed kiosk parking enforcement' on Sunday due to problems with credit card transmissions issues at kiosks. The problem happened all weekend long and anyone who received a ticket at a kiosk enforced spot on Friday or Saturday can contact the PPA to resolve it. The PPA has not yet fixed the issue, but they cannot go into the busy work week without enforcement resuming. (enforcement = turnover, spots free up, people don't just park all day, etc.) If you plan on parking and paying at a kiosk on Monday make sure you have cash, coin or smart card because credit card will NOT work.

UPDATE 12:45p: The PPA kiosk credit card problem is fixed. They are now accepting credit cards.

Mostly Cloudy, High 38. Tonight Rain.
