Delaware School Bus Accident, Lawncrest Woman Stabbed, Narberth Eminent Domain Case

There are injuries after a school bus struck a concrete pillar in Delaware Tuesday morning. The incident happened shortly before 7 a.m. in the 1500 block of Capitol Trail in Newark. 11 students and the school bus driver were transported to Alfred I. duPont Hospital. The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

A woman was stabbed early Tuesday morning in the city’s Lawncrest section. Police were called to Colgate and Van Kirk Streets shortly after 5 a.m. where they found a 21-year-old woman with a two-inch stab wound to her lower back. She was taken to Einstein Medical Center in stable condition. Police were searching for her attacker.

The owner of a former gas station in Narberth, Montgomery County wants to keep the property in the family. But the borough is taking steps to seize it for public use, if the town can’t buy it. The Corl family and the borough of Narberth both want the former gas station property at 100 Forrest Avenue. The borough council has introduced an ordinance allowing it to seize the small property through eminent domain if it can’t negotiate a deal to purchase it. The town says it needs the centrally-located parcel as a staging area for public events. A public hearing is scheduled at council’s January 12 meeting.
