The NCAA and Penn State have reached a settlement that would vacate the 2012 consent decree signed in the the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal. The settlement would restore 112 wins to the football program, 111 of which were won under the late Joe Paterno, placing him back on top the all-time wins list for head coaches. Penn State will still be responsible for $60 million, but the monies will be used in the state of Pennsylvania for programs to prevent child abuse and to help victims. The NCAA removed the football team's restrictions on post-season play and reinstated the team's scholarships last September. As part of the agreement, Penn State acknowledges that the NCAA acted in good faith regarding the Jerry Sandusky matter.

Philadelphia Police have released new information, including video of the suspect, in the killing of a woman waiting for the bus in North Philadelphia earlier this week. 56-year-old old Kim Jones was shot in the back of the head while waiting for the #23 SEPTA bus at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at 12th and Jefferson Streets near Temple University. The video shows Jones walking up to the stop as she does everyday on her way to work and the suspect walking up behind her to take the shot. He then calmly walks away. The video follows him to the subway at Broad and Diamond with him entering a subway car. The man was carrying a duffel bag and wearing white headphones. His face was covered. (see picture below) Police say this was a well planned execution and even waited outside Jones' home for an hour beforehand. Anyone with information should call police.

An Upper Darby police officer opened fire on a suspect this evening after the suspect tried to run her down. It happened around 5:30 pm Friday along 69th Street near Walnut Street. The suspect was attempting to flee an undercover drug buy and drove up on the sidewalk and into a building. He then put the car into reverse and tried to run over one of the undercover officers while backing up. That's when the officer fired a shot. The suspect hit a light pole and several parking meters before coming to a rest. No one was injured. The suspect was taken into custody. Police found a semi-automatic handgun, heroin, crack cocaine, and cash inside the vehicle.
