South Philly Gas Leak, Patriots Football Deflation, New Career Job Fair

A major gas leak in South Philadelphia forced the evacuation of 6 homes early Tuesday morning on Snyder Avenue around 2:40am. Captain William Dixon of the Philadelphia Fire Department says there was a 60% natural gas reading in the air when the leak was discovered. South Philly High School was opened as a warming center for people who couldn’t yet return to their homes. No one was injured due to the gas leak.

The New England Patriots are headed back to the Super Bowl and are accused of using under-inflated footballs to help them beat the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game. Some say that a softer ball with less air is easier to catch when it’s raining so that’s the reason that someone would try to take a little air out of the ball. It also would make the ball a lot harder for the quarterback to throw. But seeing that the Patriots were caught cheating in the past by videotaping opponents, fans do have the grounds to be skeptical.

Today in Bucks County from 10am to 2pm, New Career Job Fair is bringing together more than forty local employers at Gwynedd Mercy University in Bensalem. There’s really a job for everyone at every level. Whether they’re coming out of college, entry-level, whether they’re experienced, whether they’re returning from the military, whether they’ve been laid off and really just want to change the path of their career. There will also be breakout sessions on topics including branding yourself on LinkedIn and networking to find a job.
