The President is back in Washington after a quick trip to Philadelphia Thursday. President Barack Obama spoke for about 20 minutes giving House Democrats a pep talk and setting the agenda for the year to come. President Obama talked about job growth, the economy and immigration at the Caucus retreat that began in Philadelphia earlier in the week. Vice President Joe Biden will be in town Friday to address the Caucus.

One of the cars on display at the Philadelphia Auto Show is built by local school students — and it runs on used fryer oil from a local restaurant---vegetable oil from Federal Donuts converted to biodiesel. Students at West Philadelphia’s Workshop School built the alternative-energy car and the car will compete in April’s Green Grand Prix. Expecting about 98 miles per gallon on this vehicle, the Workshop team will compete against college and private teams.

It’s been a particularly tough flu season, with the vaccine poorly matched to the predominant strain of the virus. While doctors say you should still get the shot, what if there were a way to fight the mutations that cause so much sickness each year? That’s what Temple University scientists are working on making a reality. For all the damage it can do, the flu has to ask for directions. Researchers at Temple messed with its GPS — stopping a protein on the virus that tells it when to activate flu.
