Today is Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent, the traditional 40-day period of fasting, prayer and penitence before Easter. Roman Catholics, Episcopalians and Lutherans hold services during which foreheads are marked with the sign of the cross with ashes made from last year's Palm Sunday palms as a sign of repentance and reminder of mortality. Archbishop Charles Chaput will distribute ashes after the 12:05 p.m. mass today at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

Florida Governor Rick Scott is coming to Philadelphia next week. His mission is to meet with top companies in hopes of convincing them to relocate to the tax-friendly Sunshine State. Pennsylvania’s new governor Tom Wolf has promised to raise taxes and put mandates on businesses. Meanwhile, Florida has no income tax on workers and low taxes on businesses.

Police in Exton, PA are looking for a waitress who allegedly stole money from customers by changing tip amounts on customer checks. 34 year old Michele Izbiansky worked at Red Star Crafthouse at the Exton Square Mall and reportedly got away with $500 in extra gratuities in one week. The waitress knows police are looking for her but refuses to turn herself in.
