It's the first sign of Spring. Today, pitchers and catchers report for baseball's Spring Training. The Phillies hurlers are in Clearwater, Florida to start a season where some experts project the Phils to be the worst team in baseball. Phillies ace, Cole Hamels stopped short of asking to be traded. However he did say he just wants to pitch for a winner, and that's not going to happen in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia School Reform Commission voted Wednesday night to approve five new charter schools from the 39 applications during a meeting disrupted by protests. The successful applicants were offered three-year charters with a long list of conditions. The approved plans came from existing nonprofits that have operated successful charter schools in the city for years: KIPP, Mastery, Freire, Independence, and MaST.

Sen. Bob Casey is urging Amtrak to spruce up 30th Street Station to welcome visitors for the papal visit this fall and the Democratic National Convention in 2016. Casey wants more retail and dining options and nicer restrooms. The Senator said no new federal money is likely to be available to speed up improvements, but he said he hoped private funding could fill the bill.

Sports
Tonight the Flyers have Buffalo. City Six St. Joe’s is at Dayton and Temple visits SMU.

Philadelphia Weather
Mix of sun and clouds today. Wind chills in the single digits. 19 in Center City.
