A driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a firehouse in Northeast Philadelphia early Friday morning. It happened at Engine 52 located on the corner of Van Kirk Street and Harbison Avenue just before 2 a.m. today. The car crashed into the firehouse doors, hitting an ambulance parked inside. The impact was so strong it sent the ambulance 10 feet back into a row of steel lockers. The 40-year-old driver of the car was not injured seriously.

On Thursday the FCC classified the internet a utility handing a victory to Net neutrality proponents who believe the ruling will help consumers. The action forbids telecom companies from creating fast or slow lanes for internet traffic. Comcast, one of the nation’s largest broadband providers plans to challenge the ruling and questions the FCC’s authority on governing the internet. Comcast suggests a legal battle that could take years.

A man accused by federal authorities of attempting to funnel fighters and financial aid to the Islamic State had connections to Philadelphia and Delaware. Up until August, Abror Habibov lived in a garden-apartment in Dover and operated a cellphone repair kiosk at Dover Mall. The business was one of a string of kitchenware and cellphone repair kiosks that Habibov ran at malls in Philadelphia and other cities along the East Coast.
