SRC Chair Bill Green Replaced, Honda Airbag Thefts, Gas Price Predictions

Governor Wolf has replaced Bill Green as chair of the School Reform Commission. In making the announcement that he's named Commissioner Marjorie Neff chair of the SRC. Neff is the former principal at Masterman High. Green couldn't say whether his removal stemmed from the SRC's approving five new charter schools against the governor’s wishes. Green says he'll fight the move in court.

Police say they are searching for the person or persons who took airbags from nine vehicles in Northeast Philadelphia Sunday morning. Police responded to calls of the thefts around 9 a.m. in the Rhawnhurst neighborhood. The airbags were taken from the steering wheels of the vehicles which were all manufactured by Honda — all 2013 or newer except one.

Gas prices are steadily creeping back up after bottoming out earlier this year. The sub-$2 dollar prices didn’t last very long, and now it’s hard to find a gallon of regular for less than $2.25 in the region — up more than 30 cents a gallon over the past 30 days on average. Oil analyst Tom Kloza expects prices to continue climbing as we head toward spring due to maintenance at U.S. refineries. But he also believes the days of $4 a gallon gas are behind us for quite some time.
