Firefighters battled a five-alarm blaze at a sheet metal plant in Upper Moreland, Montgomery County. The fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. Monday on the 2300 block of Wyandotte Road. The building was empty when the fire broke out. An hour later the blaze reached four alarms, and later became a five-alarm fire. Electricity and water had been shut off temporarily to the area.

Curt Schilling's daughter, Gabby Schilling was recently accepted into Salve Regina University in Rhode Island. She will attend the school and play softball. Curt Schilling took to Twitter last week to congratulate her. Numerous Twitter users began to tweet vulgar and some sexually explicit remarks about Schilling's daughter. The comments angered Curt, as he took to his own blog defending his daughter while also identifying two specific users that he says are students at New Jersey colleges. Schilling also took the time to apologize for any embarrassment that he might have caused his daughter for coming to her defense in a public forum.

Four family members, including newlyweds, all of them dead, drowned while vacationing in the Dominican Republic with about a dozen family members. From their home in Northeast Philadelphia the Patel family gathered to remember their loved ones who died Sunday afternoon. He was holding a picture of his recently married son Kush and his daughter in law Kajal. Their cousins also drowned... brothers swept under by heavy rip currents as they tried to save the couple who were struggling. The group was in an area prohibited to swimmers because of the rip currents.
