At 11:30 a.m. on March 24 police responded to the rear of a residence on the 4700 block of Frankford Avenue. They discovered the body of 39-year-old Kelly Hepft buried in a shallow grave and wrapped in plastic bags. Philadelphia Police have released surveillance video following the abduction of a jewelry store employee on Saturday. The footage from a parking garage on the 700 block of Chestnut Street shows a burgundy van with white graffitti pulling in just after 1pm. At 3:46 pm, the 53-year-old female victim walks into the garage after leaving her job at the jewelry store across the street. Then at 3:51 pm the van can be seen leaving the garage. The victim was taken somewhere inside the garage. The three suspects placed a hood over her head and bound her hands and feet. They proceeded to kick, beat, choke, and taser her to get the store keys and safe codes which she didn't know. They then demanded her ATM pin and withdrew around $200 from her accounts before dumping her in a cemetery in Darby. A passing driver saw her, called police, and she was taken to the hospital. If anyone has information or recognizes the vehicle they should contact Philadelphia Police.

A coach accused a firing a gun during a youth basketball league game on Saturday afternoon turned himself into police today. 26-year-old Maurice Tavares surrendered to Southwest Division Detectives on Monday afternoon. He has been charged with aggravated assault. During a basketball game he was coaching on Saturday at the Christy Recreation Center on South 56th Street, Tavares got into a heated argument with members of the crowd. He reached into his waistband, pulled out a gun and fired a shot. There were about 70 people in the gym but no one was hit or injured. Tavares fled the scene. Tavares' lawyer claims that he felt threatened and scared, and carried the weapon because he was previously shot while coaching a game.
