No Warning Before Cop Opened Fire; Kane Fires Top Aide; Reward in Jewelry Employee Abduction

The eyewitness who released the cellphone video of the South Carolina police officer shooting an unarmed man in the back says he heard no warning from the officer before firing 8 shots at the victim who was running away from him. Feidin Santana told NBC News that while walking to work Saturday morning, he saw Officer Michael Thomas Slager controlling Walter Lamer Scott on the ground with a Taser, and began recording. According to Santana, "Mr. Scott was trying just to get away from the Taser."

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane has fired a top aide who testified last year in the leak investigation that led a grand jury to recommend criminal charges against her. Kane fired James Barker, the chief deputy attorney general for appeals and legal services. Kane's office could not explain the reason for the dismissal, but said Barker's ouster had "absolutely nothing" to do with his testimony in the leak case.

Philadelphia is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of three men in a burgundy Ford Econoline van who kidnapped, beat, and used a Taser on a woman who worked at a shop on Jewelers' Row. The 53 year old woman left work about 4 p.m. Saturday and was walking to her car on the 700 block of Chestnut Street when three men jumped out of the van and demanded keys to the jewelry store, police said. The men forced her into the van, pulled a hood over her head, bound her arms and feet with zip ties, and drove her around the city. During the ordeal, they beat the woman and shocked her seven times with the stun gun as they forced her to disclose bank codes and personal information. After an hour, the men dumped her in a cemetery in Darby Borough, Delaware County.
