Philadelphia Police have issued an arrest warrant for a mother who left her quadriplegic son in the woods for several days last week while she went to Maryland to visit her boyfriend. 41-year-old Nyia Parler of West Philadelphia faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment of another person, neglect of a care dependent person, unlawful restraint, kidnapping and false imprisonment. Her 21-year-old son, who also suffers from cerebral palsy, was discovered Friday evening by a walker near a trail in Cobbs Creek Park with a blanket and a bible and his wheelchair nearby. His mother placed him there sometime Monday morning and then took a bus to Maryland. When officials from The High School of the Future called about is absence, Parker lied and said he was with her. The 21-year-old was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where doctors have treated him since childhood. He is suffering from dehydration, malnutrition, and eye infections and is stable condition. He will be placed with family members who can care for him. Investigators are still determining why the man was left out in the elements to die. They hope to have Parler back to Philadelphia on Monday.

UPDATE: Parler is in police custody in Maryland. She was hospitalized on Sunday down in Maryland. There is no word on her condition or reasons for that hospitalization.

One suspect has been arrested in connection to last week's Center City jewelry store employee abduction and attack. 31-year-old Khayree Gay was taken into custody at a hotel in Lake City, SC, on Thursday night. He is being charged with federal kidnapping and robbery charges and being held at the Florence County Detention Center in South Carolina. Gay, who is from Olney, is one of three suspects sought in the April 4th kidnapping, beating, and robbery of a 53-year-old woman from Jeweler's Row in Center City. The victim was taken from a parking garage across from the her work at National Watch and Diamond. A hood was placed over her head and she was bound. The mean beat, choked, and tasered her in an effort to obtain the safe codes for the store. She did not know the codes. The men were able get her pin number and withdraw cash using her ATM card before dumping her in a cemetery. There is no word on the other two suspects or the van being sought.

Following the fallout of the firing of Colwyn Borough Manager Paula Brown on Thursday night, Colwyn Police Department officials say that officers cannot do their patrols because they can no longer pay to fill up their patrol cars. Jim Pickett’s Automotive and Gas Station on South McDade Boulevard in Darby has suspended the borough's account used by borough vehicles, police, and fire departments. The borough is over $1 million in debt, leaving the gas station wondering if and how they'll get paid. The police and fire departments will have to pay for gas out of their own pockets in the mean time. Brown was fired after a contentious council meeting on Thursday night. She locked herself in her office overnight into Friday following the meeting and disputes the validity of the vote. An emergency council meeting will be held on Monday.
