Manayunk StrEAT Fest; Abandoned Son Recovering at CHOP; Blatstein Plans Big in AC

The Manayunk StrEAT Food Festival was a big success yesterday. According to organizers 40,000 people came out to chow down on the offerings of 50 different food trucks and other vendors along Main Street. The record crowd was likely due to cabin fever and the first taste of Spring weather, according to the Manayunk Development Corporation.

The Philadelphia woman who left her quadriplegic son in the woods while she went to visit her boyfriend has been arrested in Maryland. Nyia Parler left her 21 year old son Daequan Norman under a blanket next to his wheelchair on Monday and was not discovered until Friday. Norman is being treated at CHOP. His mother is in custody.

Real estate developer Bart Blatstein has big plans for his newly acquired Pier Shops at Caesars in Atlantic City. The four story oceanfront mall cost $2.7 million and Blatstein will put an addition $50 million into renovations including a high tech bar with ocean views, live music and six themed clubs featuring different music and comedy.

The Phillies have an afternoon game with the Mets today. Tonight the 76ers have Milwaukee.
