Emergency Landing at PHL; Suspect Held in Nicki Minaj Crew Stabbing; 150 NJSP to Baltimore

An airplane made an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport this afternoon after a fire broke out in one of its engines. The plane made its landing around 3:50 pm Tuesday afternoon. United Express Flight #4882 was traveling from Raleigh-Durham International Airport and headed to Newark Liberty International Airport before it was diverted to Philadelphia. All 75 passengers and crew were evacuated safely on the runway and the plane was dosed with foam. One of the two prop engines of the de Havilland Dash 8-400 (DHC 8-400) plane had caught fire. No word on what caused the fire. Flight operations were suspended at the airport, but are slowly being restored.

After a preliminary hearing today, the suspect in the stabbing death of a member of rapper Nicki Minaj's tour group was ordered held for trial on murder and related charges. 31-year-old Pierce Boykin is accused of killing 29-year-old Devon Pickett of Brooklyn and injuring another man during an argument outside the Che Bar and Grill on Stenton Avenue on February 18th. Pianist Marcus Kincy testified in today's hearing and said that Boykin's group became upset when Pickett escorted a female bartender to her car safely. The defense argued there was no evidence that Boykin delivered the fatal stab wounds. The judge ruled that there was enough evidence to move to trial. Members of Minaj's tour group were in Philadelphia to rehearse for her upcoming world tour.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie announced this afternoon that he will be sending New Jersey State troopers and personnel to the City of Baltimore to assist following riots that have erupted. Christie is sending 150 people to Maryland, which includes 100 troopers and approximately 50 other enlisted and civilian personnel. Christie says that he spoke with Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and offered support and solidarity. They will be there for 72 hours to start.

Mostly Clear, temperatures in the low 60s/upper 50s this evening in Center City
