The NFL draft begins tonight and Chip Kelly may take a run at Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota. But it won't be easy. The Eagles currently have the #20 spot and the draft and Mariota is expected to be the # 2 pick overall. No team has ever been able to negotiate a jump that high to select a quarterback. But this is Chip Kelly's team and Eagles fans know he is willing to step outside traditional NFL thinking.

Developer Bart Blatstein has another plan for the former Inquirer Building. He plans to turn it into a hotel and Blatstein is looking for $5 million in state money toward the project. Blatstein's Tower Investments would make it a 125-room boutique hotel with a restaurant and meeting space. The hotel would cost $36.4 million to develop.

A municipal court judge has dismissed all assault charges against one Temple University football player and most charges against another after hearing the testimony of an alleged victim about an off-campus fight at a North Philly nightclub earlier this year. Judge Joyce Eubanks ruled that there was insufficient evidence to hold Haason Reddick and dismissed most charges against Dion Dawkins.

The Phillies wrap up their series with St. Louis in an afternoon game today.
