Three Dead in West Caln Fire; Northeast Extension Reopens; Brush Fires in Burlington County

Three women were found dead after a fire in West Caln Township in Chester County this afternoon. It happened shortly after 12 noon on the 300 block of Hill Road. Two adults and two children escaped the blaze in the double wide trailer home. The house was completely destroyed by the flames. All seven people in the home were family members. Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire but they do not consider it suspicious. The names of the victims have not been released.

The northbound lanes of the Northeast Extension have reopened after being closed for much of the afternoon. A box truck rear-ended a tractor-trailer around mile marker 53 sometime after 12 p.m. Traffic was stopped because of an earlier accident in a construction zone when the box truck slammed into the back of the trailer. The driver of the box truck suffered fatal injuries. I-476 northbound was closed for hours with traffic being detoured at the Quakertown exit.

Fire officials in Burlington County, NJ, are investigating whether several brush fires that started burning today in Pemberton Township were intentionally set. There were five separate fires burning before sunrise Monday morning near Route 70 and Whitesbog Road south of the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. Weather forecasters have issued fire weather warnings for our area meaning that low humidity, high winds, and dry fuel could create ideal conditions for fires to get out of control. Firefighters were able to bring the fires under control. Local and state officials are investigating the fires that they are calling suspicious at this point.

Tonight,
Clear skies, warm, temperatures hanging in the 70's this evening in Center City.
