Nutter Says Williams Not Smart Enough; McCoy Criticizes Kelly Over Black Players; Reward for Shooter

Mayor Nutter responded to Democratic primary candidate for mayor, State Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams who said if elected he would not re-hire Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey. At a memorial service for fallen police officers and firefighters Nutter said, "Anyone who is not smart enough to ask him to stay is probably not smart enough to lead the city,"

LeSean McCoy still has Philly on his mind. In a recent interview with ESPN The Magazine, McCoy said his relationship with Kelly “was never really great” and correlated the departures of himself and other former star Eagles black players. “You see how fast he got rid of all the good players,” said McCoy, whom Kelly traded to Buffalo. “Especially all the good black players. He got rid of them the fastest. That's the truth. There's a reason. ... It's hard to explain with him. But there's a reason he got rid of all the black players — the good ones — like that.” The Eagles replaced McCoy with an African American player and drafted African Americans with their first five picks in the NFL draft.

Mayor Michael Nutter lashed out about the shooter who lodged a bullet in an 8-year-old girl's head Saturday when he opened fire on a double parked car in West Philly during a road rage incident. Nutter said, "That is the most idiotic, crazy-a-- behavior that people engage in, this random gunfire because you want to get around a car that happened to be double parked?" "I mean that’s a real a--hole." He also announced that the city has put up a $5,000 reward for information leading to the shooter and the FOP has put up an additional $5,000, bringing the total reward to $10G. Little Aniyah Curry remains at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in stable condition. She was expected to undergo surgery today to remove the bullet from her head.
