Beau Biden Hospitalized, Game Stop Robbery Video, Kenney Wins Mayoral Nomination

Former Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden was hospitalized Tuesday night at Walter Reed Medical Center. The office of Vice President Biden did not provide any information about why the 46-year-old is hospitalized. Beau Biden has had health problems in the past. In 2010, he suffered a mild stroke and he underwent surgery at a Texas cancer center in 2013.

A video showing a police officer taking on two gunmen before he was killed in a Philadelphia store robbery may be played at a preliminary hearing. Prosecutors say two men charged with murder in the case are each responsible for the March 5 death of Officer Robert Wilson III. The defendants are 29-year-old ex-convict Carlton Hipps and 25-year-old Ramone Williams, his half-brother. They’ll be in court on Wednesday. Police officials have widely praised Wilson’s efforts to protect customers and overtake the gunmen during the holdup of a Game Stop store in North Philadelphia.

A former longtime Philadelphia councilman with strong union backing is poised to become the city’s next mayor after winning a six-way Democratic primary. Jim Kenney captured the nomination despite a pro-charter school group spending nearly $7 million in support of challenger Anthony Hardy Williams, a state senator. The victory all but assures Kenney will be the next mayor of the nation’s fifth largest city, where Democrats outnumber Republicans nearly 7-1.
