Kenney In Position for Mayoral Run; NJ Police Search for Truck Owner; Roosevelt Blvd Transit

Jim Kenney won the Philadelphia Democratic Primary in convincing fashion yesterday putting Kenney in position to become Philadelphia’s next mayor. Kenney got more than twice the votes as second place finisher, Anthony Williams. Lynne Abraham, only the second woman to make a run at Mayor finished with 8% of the vote. Milton Street finished last with 2% of the vote.

New Jersey state police are searching for a missing man who may have been involved in fatal crash on Interstate 295. Joseph Tiedeman, a 58-year-old Burlington resident, is the registered owner of a 2011 Ford truck that left the roadway in Mount Laurel around 8:45 p.m. Sunday and went into the center median. The truck struck an overpass support post for state highway 73, then caught fire. A male victim found inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Northeast Philadelphia’s heavily-trafficked Roosevelt Boulevard will be getting an overhaul. Coming is an Enhanced Bus System (EBS), according to a study by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission. EBS is like Bus Rapid Transit where buses are given their own dedicated lanes, signal prioritization, stations and even special branding. It operates like a light rail system - such as the Norristown High Speed Line - but without laying down rail tracks.
