Man Killed By SEPTA Bus, Grays Ferry Boy Shot, Collingswood Craft Breweries Approval

Police in Center City are investigating a deadly accident involving a SEPTA bus and a pedestrian. A man was hit and killed by a SEPTA bus near 11th and Walnut Streets around 1am Tuesday. Police say the bus driver was not aware a person was struck until a taxi driver flagged him down a few blocks away, near 11th and Vine Streets.

A young boy is recovering after he was shot in Philadelphia’s Grays Ferry neighborhood. The six-year-old is in stable condition at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Police say one gunshot was fired around 11:15pm on Monday while about a dozen people were outside playing basketball in the neighborhood. The six-year-old was hit in his left foot.

On Monday night the Collingswood Borough Commissioners voted yes to allowing craft beer makers in their town. Collingswood Mayor Jim Maley says seeing that they are a dry town, at first, some restaurant owners were worried that these new establishments would be able to serve food and that would take business away from them. Maley adds, there are no liquor licenses in Collingswood and these breweries will not need them, so if the ordinance passes, they’ll still be a dry town. There will be another vote in August where they’ll listen to public opinion and after that they will have a final vote on whether or not establishments will be welcome in Collingswood.
