A Philadelphia police officer was shot by a fleeing murder suspect this morning after attempting to serve an arrest warrant. The officer managed to return fire, striking and killing the suspect. It happened at 6:10 a.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex in the 800 block of Riverside Drive in Northeast Philadelphia. SWAT officers went to the apartment of 26-year-old Devon Guisherd to arrest him. Guisherd took off running and the officer pursued. The suspect turned around and fired, hitting the officer in the lower abdomen. Fortunately, his SWAT jacket had an extra bulletproof flap that extended down. The officer fired back and struck Guisherd. Both were taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital. The suspect was pronounced dead and the officer was released a few hours later after being treated for severe bruising. Guisherd was charged in the murder of 25-year-old Megan Doto in Frankford last September. She was struck and killed by a stray bullet while sitting on her front porch on Adams Avenue. Doto was pregnant at the time and the baby also died.

A 61-year-old Main Line woman has been arrested for selling heroin after a four month long investigation, the Tredyffrin Township Police Department announced today. Lynne Twaddle of the 800 block of Pugh Road in Wayne was arrested for Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin, Possession of a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance, Possession with Intent to Deliver Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. At the time of the arrest, police discovered 80 bags of heroin in the house. Throughout the four month investigation they secured 250 baggies of the drug from Twaddle in undercover buys. She has been arraigned and is currently being held at Chester County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Swedish furniture manufacturer IKEA has announced a recall of 27 million adult and children's dressers and chests due to the potential for tipping. 2-year-old Curran Collas from West Chester, PA was killed in February 2014 when a chest tipped over and trapped him. A 23-month-old boy from Snohomish, WA also died in June of 2014 when his dresser tipped over. IKEA and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) acknowledges that the furniture can tip over if not attached to the wall. IKEA is offering free wall anchors for 7 million of their MALM 3, 4 or 6 drawer chests and 20 million of other style dressers dating back to 2002. To receive a free wall anchoring kit, visit an IKEA retail store, go to http://info.ikea-usa.info/secureitkits, or call (888) 966-4532.

Tonight,
Partly Cloudy, temperatures in the lower 80s/upper 70s this evening in Center City.
