A man lost his leg after being pinned underneath a freight train in the Bustleton section of Philadelphia this morning. It happened around 2:30am near Welsh Road and Grant Avenue when the man was hit by the train, and his leg became pinned underneath. It took rescue crews and a surgical team from Einstein Medical Center more than 2 hours to get the 46-year-old free.

A Chester County nurse is facing charges for allegedly stealing drugs from the nursing home where she worked. 36-year-old Carolyn Howett is accused of stealing morphine and other drugs from the Pocopson Home in West Chester. Police say Howett marked the drugs as destroyed, but they later found them in her home.

The final link in the Schuylkill River Trail connecting Philadelphia to Phoenixville has officially opened. The Schuylkill Canal Towpath, a stretch running along the border of Upper Providence Township, is ready for runners, bikers and walkers after 35 years of work to restore the canal. The county had to overcome environmental and financial concerns to finish the long-standing project.
