NJ Earthquake Recorded, PhillyLoveBOT, Cobbs Creek Golf Course Restoration

Residents in North Jersey woke up to the ground shaking early Friday morning. There's been a small earthquake centered in Somerset County. The U.S. Geological Survey says it registered a magnitude of 2.5 around 4 a.m. There's no reports of any damage at this time.

Members of Philadelphia's tech community and volunteers have set out to create a version of HitchBOT — Philly style. The robot will be called the PhillyLoveBOT and instead of hitchhiking, it will have another method of transportation. It would be passed person to person. Once someone receives it, they also make a commitment to do a good deed and they would document that with the hashtag #botterlylove or #phillylovebots. The HitchBOT is a world famous robot created as a social media experiment by two Canadian inventors. It hitchhiked its way through Canada and Europe. But when HitchBOT got to Philly, someone destroyed it.

New efforts are underway to restore a Philadelphia golf course to its former glory.
The Cobbs Creek Golf Course will turn 100-years-old next year. Mike Cirba, an IT guy, and Joseph Bausch, a Villanova professor, are on an eight-year quest so far to restore Cobbs Creek Golf Course in West Philadelphia. In order to restore the golf course, it’s going to take more than $14 million. And so far, most of that money has been raised, and it’s all private money that’ll essentially be going to a public golf course. But obstacles remain, chiefly among them, major flooding mitigation is needed for Cobbs Creek.
