The neon lights of the Wildwoods have become part of a video light-art piece aimed at raising awareness and serving as a visual symbol for peace. "Peace Lights" was produced by artists Peter Rogina and Eileen Cohen.
The project, commissioned by the New York Peace Coalition in February, has been displayed at several events in New York and Washington, D.C. It features the neon lights on the Wildwoods Convention Center. “Peace Lights” will be shown in New York City on Sept. 9 as part of the 7th annual African Union Day of Celebration. Plans are also being developed for the International Day of Peace on Sept. 21.

As Pennsylvania nears the end of its eighth week without a budget , the Republican-controlled state House Tuesday is expected to attempt something highly unusual — line-by-line override votes on portions of Governor Wolf’s budget veto. House Republican spokesman Steve Miskin says there are 401 lines in the budget that was vetoed, but he says there is general agreement with the governor about the spending allocated in many lines. Miskin says the House today plans to take override votes on some of those budget lines.

About 500 families with children enrolled in the Education Plus Cyber Charter School got an unpleasant surprise late last week, word from the school that, because of a letter sent last week by the state, its brick–and-mortar facilities could not be used for face-to-face instruction. Education Plus cyber charter’s Nicholas Torres says Governor Wolf is no fan of charter schools. In a statement, the Department of Education says the letter was sent to all cyber charters as a reminder that they can only provide instruction through the internet or other electronic means, and that Education Plus was the only one they’d heard about that wasn’t complying.
