RECPhilly Passes $12,000 on Kickstarter in 5 Days; Supporting Philadelphia Local Music Scene

Local Philadelphia music community incubator RECPhilly has surpassed $12,000 $11,000 with over 50 backers in a Kickstarter campaign launched earlier this week. Since 2012, RECPhilly founder's Dave Silver and Will Toms have worked with over 2,000+ local artists and produced over 180 local shows at almost every major music venue in the city. They have recognized that despite the enormous amount of musical talent in the Philadelphia-area, there has been a lack of cohesive industry support for emerging artists in the city since the golden era 30 years ago. This forces talent to leave in order to 'make it' bigger. RECPhilly is part of a recent resurgence that aims to build the music scene and the creative economy as a whole for the benefit of all of Philadelphia. (SEE ALSO: http://www.phllive.org)

Over the past year RECPhilly has been building strategic partnerships with various facets of the industry including recording studios, graphic designers, photographers, accountants, lawyers, photographers, managers, producers, venues, media outlets, radio stations (including iradiophilly), etc. They have also built a collaborative, creative, co-working space called the RECRoom that artists can join for a reasonable fee. It houses all the tools necessary to further a career including access to the career building workflow and network of professionals, recording space, visual studio, computer equipment, and writing space.

The Kickstarter is reaching out to the community to ask for support in helping build the music community. One third of funds raised will be used for scholarships to sponsor artists through the network. One third will be used to upgrade the RECRoom facilities and equipment. One fifth will go towards marketing, promotion, and events. The rest goes towards Kickstarter fees and the incentives.

You can give as little as $10 or as much as $10000. Check out the incentives, there are some really good ones. Even the pricier ones are good deals (ie. Bands should look at the Tyler Nicolo mixing/mastering package).
