The taxicab company whose driver struck and killed a young man and woman on North Broad Street early Monday has been under investigation by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission nearly two dozen times in the last five years, and has paid thousands of dollars in fines for infractions and safety violations, according to state records. Around 4:30 a.m. Monday, Amanda DiGirolomo of Phoenixville and Bryan Botti of Baltimore, both 25, were crossing in a crosswalk at Arch Street when they were struck by the northbound Rosemont Taxicab Co. car, police said. DiGirolomo was pronounced dead at the scene. Botti died at a hospital shortly after. No charges have been filed in the case. On Tuesday, authorities said the investigation could take weeks.

Authorities have recovered the body of a Montgomery County man who died while swimming in Maryland over Labor Day weekend. Ocean City, Md., police said 37-year-old James Lenhart, of Souderton, was last seen at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Coast Guard boat and helicopter crews had searched for Lenhart before his body was recovered in the Ocean City inlet on Tuesday, police said. It hasn't yet been determined if Lenhart drowned or died of some other cause. His body has been sent to Maryland's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

I’ll be there. Where will you be when Pope Francis comes to Philly? For those who can’t make it into the city for the big Papal Mass on the Parkway, many parishes around Philadelphia will be setting up large screen TV’s in their churches. The Mass on September 27th will also be shown live on a large screen at the Cape May Convention Hall at the Jersey Shore. Admission will be free. Tickets are available at all Cape May churches, the city clerk's office, and the information desk at the Convention Hall.
