Pennsauken 9-11 Memorial, Academy Of Natural Sciences Closing During Pope Visit, Phillies Resched

Officials in Pennsauken, New Jersey are honoring those slain in the 9-11 attacks by placing 2,997 flags at the township's memorial site. Rows of American flags will take over the memorial grounds near Route 130 and Merchantville Avenue. Each flag represents a person who died in the attacks.

The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University is now planning to close from Friday through Monday when the Pope comes to town, which will, of course, result in lost revenue. The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University is located right in the heart of the Papal activities. Sara Hertz, Vice President for Museum Operations says there were too many unknowns, like would employees have to go through metal detectors? Through a fenced in area? And could they access public transportation to get to work? The good news for employees is they will still get paid.

Last night’s scheduled game between the Phillies and Chicago Cubs was cancelled due to rain. The Phillies say the game will be made up today, Friday, September 11, as part of a single admission doubleheader which will begin at 5:05 p.m. All gates will open at 4:05 p.m.
The team says fans holding tickets to last night’s cancelled game (September 10) may exchange them for tickets to any remaining Phillies home game this season, including tonight’s doubleheader. The tickets may also be exchanged for any 2016 home game when single game tickets go on sale in February. Exchanges should occur by May 31, 2016.
