Police say a Temple University student was carjacked at gunpoint early Thursday morning. It happened around 1 a.m. at 10th Street and Susquehanna Avenue. Authorities say a vehicle with New Jersey tags was taken from the student. There were no injuries.

Green Justice Philly, a coalition of community organizations and environmental groups, has launched an initiative to build a clean, healthy economy in Philadelphia, and fight what members call dirty energy expansion. Green Justice Philly’s members include more than 20 environmental and economic justice organizations. Food and Water Watch’s Sam Bernhardt says Philadelphia Energy Solutions, on the old Sunoco refinery site poses a grave threat to the community’s health. In the coming months, the coalition will hold community forums in Elmwood and Point Breeze, neighborhoods that bracket the refinery. Find out more at greenjusticephilly.org.

Planned Parenthood officials announced that the organization will no longer accept financial reimbursement for fetal tissue donation. When it came to light this summer that money was changing hands, it sparked an instant controversy. Dayle Steinberg, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania agrees with the change but adds none of the offices in Pennsylvania take part in fetal tissue donation. Planned Parenthood officials say the organization will continue offering fetal tissue for researcher, but the group will now cover the costs.
