A jury has found the demolition contractor, Griffin Campbell, guilty of 6 counts of involuntary manslaughter and 12 counts of reckless endangerment in the Center City building collapse that killed six people in June 2013 at 22nd and Market. Campbell was also charged with murder but was found not guilty on those counts. Campbell was the contractor on scene when a 3-story unsupported wall came crashing down on the Salvation Army store next door killing 6 and injuring 13. The defense pointed the blame to the the architect, Plato Marinakos, who received immunity for his testimony. The crane operator, Sean Benschop, pled guilty to the same charges in a plea agreement. He was sentenced to 10-20 years. Campbell's sentencing is scheduled for January 8th, 2016. The families plan to go to civil court.

Villanova University announced that it will be adding armed police officers to its security force by next fall. Currently the public safety department has 75 members. They are looking to transition 19 campus security members to armed police officers. They will undergo 800 hours of police academy training like most municipal officers go through. Right now public safety cannot use lights or sirens to respond to emergencies. They can't stop, detain, or question anyone without permission. They are completely unarmed. They also don't have direct contact with other local law enforcement agencies or access to databases to assist in investigations. The university has been studying this transition for 2 years and it is in response for the greater need of security on campuses across the country. There will be an oversight committee comprised of students, faculty, and staff. The University of Pennsylvania, Drexel, and Temple all have their own on campus police forces.

One suspect is in custody and another is on the loose in a deadly home invasion in Delaware early Sunday morning. It happened around 1:30 a.m. on the 1400 block of John Clark Road in Dover, Delaware. The son chased after the suspects who continued firing. 18-year-old Haley Henwood was shot outside during the chase. The father was pronounced dead at the scene. Henwood died at the hospital. 23-year-old Matthew Harrington of Buckingham Township, Bucks County turned himself into his local police on Sunday night. He is awaiting extradition to Delaware. Police are still looking for 21-year-old Saleem Shabazz of Philadelphia. He is described as a black male, around 6’0″ tall and about 150-160 pounds with a slim build. Anyone with information can contact Delaware State Police at 302-365-8441 or 1-800-TIP-3333
