Paul McCartney's Private Show in Philadelphia; Vatican Denies Pope Has Tumor; Cosby Political Ad

Paul McCartney played Philadelphia on Sunday. You missed it? So did most of us. The former Beatle played a private party at the Convention Center. The two hour performance before about 1,000 people in the trucking industry was arranged by Freightliner Trucks possibly with the help of Sir Paul's wife, Nancy Shevell, an executive at New England Motor Freight. Sources say McCartney changed the lyrics of some songs for the event – "Baby you can drive my truck."

The Vatican is denying a report in an Italian newspaper that Pope Francis has a small, curable brain tumor. The Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, said the report was "totally unfounded," as well as "seriously irresponsible and not worthy of attention." In a report on its front page Wednesday, citing unnamed sources, the Quotidiano Nazionale said the 78-year-old pontiff traveled to a clinic near Pisa in Tuscany to see a Japanese doctor who determined a small dark spot on the pope's brain could be cured without surgery.

A Democratic candidate is citing unproven sex-abuse allegations against comedian Bill Cosby in a TV ad attacking his Republican opponent. Kevin Steele is Montgomery County’s first assistant district attorney, but is running to be the county’s top prosecutor. His new ad attacks Bruce Castor, the county’s former prosecutor, for not charging Cosby when the allegations first surfaced in 2005. Castor calls the ad “predictable craziness from a desperate candidate.” Castor has said there wasn’t enough evidence to prosecute Cosby when a former Temple University employee accused Cosby of drugging and molesting her.
