One person is dead and two have been taken into custody after shots were fired during a standoff at a Bensalem motel on Saturday afternoon. It started around 2:30 p.m. at the Knights Inn on the 2700 block of Lincoln Highway in Bensalem, Bucks County. Bensalem Police went to the motel to pick up James Miller on a Pa. parole violation. Unknown at the time, but also in the room were 34-year-old Lloyd Wayne Franklin and 38-year-old Jennifer Lanning who had picked up a hitchhiking Miller earlier. The couple was wanted out of North Carolina for homicide and multiple robberies. As officers approached the room someone from inside began to fire. Police did not return fire but instead backed up and called in SWAT. Eventually, Lanning and Miller were taken into custody. Lanning surrendered first, then Miller. Franklin's body was discovered inside with an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound. The investigation is ongoing.

A 9-year-old boy who was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Friday night has been identified. Darius Condash and two older cousins went to Wawa about a half mile from his Hanover Township, Northampton County home. At 6:30 p.m., the boys were crossing the 5-lane road on their way back when Darius dropped his candy. He ran back to pick it up when he was hit by a passing car that then fled the scene. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem where he died from his injuries. The car is described as a silver Honda with a raised fin on its trunk and front end damage. Darius was an avid football player, whose team's championship game is scheduled for Sunday morning. If you have any details on the hit-and-run, please call 610-759-2200

Many people in Southern California reported a mysterious light flying through the skies over the Pacific Ocean on Saturday night. The strange flash of light was viewable from San Diego to San Fransisco and even east into the neighboring states of Nevada and Arizona. But nobody knew what it was. It couldn't be a comet or meteor or any other celestial body we are used to. Many thought it was a UFO coming to get Donald Trump. Well it wasn't anything nefarious or extraterrestrial. The official word is that it was a rocket test conducted by the Navy. Cmdr. Ryan Perry with the Navy's Third Fleet said the Navy Strategic Systems Programs conducted a scheduled Trident II (D5) missile test flight at sea from USS Kentucky.

Navy Strategic Systems Programs conducted scheduled Trident II (D5) missile test flight at sea from USS Kentucky, an Ohio Class SSBN, in the Pacific Test Range off the coast of Southern California. The tests were part of a scheduled, ongoing system evaluation test. Launches are conducted on a frequent, recurring basis to ensure the continued reliability of the system. Each test activity provides valuable information about our systems, thus contributing to assurance in our capabilities.

The missile was not armed. Strategic Systems Programs does not routinely announce missile testing. Information regarding the test launch of Trident II (D5) missiles is classified before the launch."
