A Philadelphia Police officer has been arrested and charged with assault after a domestic incident on Thanksgiving in Bensalem, Bucks County. 48-year-old Officer Joseph Sees was taken into custody last Thursday by Bensalem Police. Sees was off-duty at the time and got into an altercation with a female. She suffered facial injuries including a broken nose. A neighbor called police after hearing the fight. He was charged with Simple Assault and Harassment. Sees is a 17-year veteran of the force. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey has suspended him for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane held a press conference today at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia to announce that she had appointed a special prosecutor to investigate chains of alleged pornographic and other offensive or inappropriate emails sent between judges, prosecutors and others on state computers. Kane showed a few of the sexually and racially charged images before she spoke. She chose former Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler to run an independent inquiry with full prosecutorial powers. Kane took no questions after her prepared statement. Kane's ability to appoint such a prosecutor is in question, since her law license was suspended. Gansler also does not have a license to practice law in Pennsylvania.

A Philadelphia man has been indicted for impersonating a federal officer on multiple occasions over the past year, including at the Amtrak derailment in Port Richmond. 37-year-old Michael Alvaro has been charged with impersonation of a federal officer, impersonator conducting a search, and possession of unregistered firearms. In November 2014, he pretended to be a DEA agent to detain a person and search their car. In February 2015, he again pretended to be a DEA agent to obtain information about a homicide. On May 12, 2015, Alvaro identified himself as an ATF agent to gain access to the secure perimeter around the Amtrak 188 crash in the city's Port Richmond neighborhood. He faces up to 29 years in prison if convicted.
