Kathryn Knott Found Guilty on 4 Charges; Upper Darby Cop Steals Evidence; 76ers Hire Mike D'Antoni

After deliberating for three days, a Philadelphia jury found 25-year-old Kathryn Knott guilty of four misdemeanor counts but acquitted her of any felony charges related to an attack on a gay couple last year in Center City. Knott was found guilty of two counts of reckless endangerment (one for each victim), and one count of simple assault and one count of conspiracy to commit simple assault for one of the victims. She was acquitted of the more serious charges of aggravated assault. Knott was accused of yelling homophobic slurs and punching the men the night of the attack. On the stand this week she denied the allegations. The two other defendants previously pled guilty to their involvement and received 3-5 years probation and community service. Knott is free on bail until sentencing on February 8th. She faces probation up to 2 years in jail.

A former veteran Upper Darby police officer is facing charges of theft and evidence tampering. 41-year-old Brad Ross, a 17-year veteran, left the force in March, shortly after items in the evidence room were discovered misplaced. Investigators believe that Ross began stealing from the evidence room and tampering with evidence beginning in 2012, around the time he was in a car accident that left him in pain. Approximately 3,700 pills and Suboxone strips, as well as over $14,000 in cash, eight cell phones, gift cards and jewelry were taken. Some of the items were found in his home. He is charged with 203 counts of theft, some of which are felony counts. Three drug cases had to be thrown out because of this. He was arraigned and freed on $50,000 bail.

The Philadelphia 76ers have officially hired Mike D'Antoni as Associate Head Coach. 64-year-old D'Antoni was last the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers (2012-14). He has a 455-426 career record in 12 seasons as head coach while also leading the Denver Nuggets (1998-99), Phoenix Suns (2003-08), and New York Knicks (2008-12). New Sixers' chairman of basketball operations Jerry Colangelo owned the Suns when D'Antoni was head coach there. Colangelo, also the chairman of the board of USA Basketball, named D'Antoni an assistant head coach to the Olympic teams that won gold in 2008 and 2012. Sixers head coach Brett Brown signed a 2-year extension last week.

Tonight,
Cloudy, temperatures in the low 40's/upper 30's this evening in Center City
