Al Jazeera 'The Dark Side' Cites Ryan Howard, Peyton Manning with doping; Eagles Lose, Miss Playoffs

A documentary entitled 'The Dark Side: Secrets of the Sports Dopers' produced by Al Jazeera's Investigative Unit is alleging that several high profile sports stars including Ryan Howard and Peyton Manning have used performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) such as Delta-2 and HGH. In the report, Liam Collins, a British hurdler, went undercover to expose the use of PEDs in sports. He made contact with medical professionals telling them he wanted one more shot at the 2016 Olympics. He recorded his interactions with Charlie Sly, a pharmacist based in Austin, Texas. Sly talks about the drugs he has supplied to athletes like Manning, Howard, Green Bay's Clay Matthews, Washington National's Ryan Zimmerman, Mike Tyson, and more. He also talks about how easy it is to pass the drug tests of organizations like MLB and NFL. Howard, Zimmerman, and Manning have denied using drugs, the others haven't responded. In fact, after this documentary was made public Sly has denied any of the statements he was caught on camera making.

UPDATE: William Burck, an attorney that represents Howard and Zimmerman, has threatened to sue Al Jazeera. "The extraordinarily reckless claims made against our clients in this report are completely false and rely on a source who has already recanted his claims,” Burck said. “We will go to court to hold Al Jazeera and other responsible parties accountable for smearing our clients' good names."

The Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Washington Redskins on Saturday night 38-24 at Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia letting all playoff hopes slip away and the NFC East Division title in the Redskins hands. The Eagles entered the game controlling their own destiny, needing to win this week and next week against the New York Giants to go to the playoffs. Dropped passes and untimely turnovers hurt Philly and Washington's Kirk Cousins threw for 4 TD's and a season high 365 yards. Next week's game against the Giants now means nothing for both teams. The biggest question, will Chip Kelly and/or Sam Bradford be here next year? Both say they'd like to be around.
