Lurie Had Seen Enough of Chip Kelly; DuPont Layoffs; Camden K-9 Zero Passes Away

Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly was fired last night and no one saw it coming with one game left to play this season. Owner Jeffrey Lurie says that as the events of the season unfolded he knew he had to make a change. Lurie brought Chip Kelly in three years ago confident he could revolutionize the game and the Eagles. After 2 winning seasons, the Eagles lost embarrassingly this year after Chip took control and turned the roster over. They went 2-5 on national TV, Jason Peters took himself out of a game, Multi-million dollar acquisition Demarco Murray rode the bench in a ski cap, and the fans emptied the Linc during the 4th quarter. Jeffrey Lurie had seen enough.

DuPont will cut 1,700 of the 6,100 jobs in its home state of Delaware next month. The cuts, at offices and labs along the I-95 corridor, are part of an effort to eliminate more than 5,000 of the company's 54,000 worldwide jobs before DuPont's proposed merger with Dow Chemical Co. and their planned breakup into separate pesticide, materials, and "specialty products" companies. Chief executive Edward Breen told staff in a memo Tuesday the decision was unanimous because DuPont faces an "urgent need to restructure our cost base" and "reduce our corporate overhead."

The Camden Police Department lost one of its officers Monday night. The department’s first K-9 officer, Zero, a German Shepard who joined the force in 2007 passed away peacefully in his sleep. Zero died with the New Jersey state record 68 criminal apprehensions by a K-9. Over the years Zero survived a fall through a ceiling, cuts to his paws and face, kicks and punches, and poisoning. During his career, Zero’s favorite bonus for a job well done was 20 piece chicken nugget meals from McDonald’s. Zero was 12 years old. Pictured: Camden County Police Lt.
