ChesCo Man Kills Grandmother, Rapes Her and Mom; Threats to NYC/Philly Police, Suspect in Custody

A Chester County man is under arrest and charged with the murder of his grandmother and the attempted rape of both his mother and grandmother. 23-year-old Kevin Havelow returned home to the 100 block of Irwin Drive in Lower Oxford where they all live along with his sister sometime after midnight Tuesday. He had been out doing drugs with a friend and got into an argument with his mother. That's when he tackled her and tried to sexually assault her. With the sister's help, they fended off the attack. The sister called 911. Havelow then turned to his 81-year-old walker-bound grandmother and attempted to sexually assault her. Finally, he took multiple knives from the kitchen and stabbed her over 20 times. Pennsylvania State Police arrived and took him into custody. He made a full confession. Havelow has been charged with first degree murder, attempted rape, and related offenses. Records show that he was voluntarily committed to Brandywine Hospital for threatening to harm himself in December.

An unidentified man accused of making threats against police has turned himself into a Bronx police precinct. The anonymous threats were made against both NYC and Philadelphia police departments on Wednesday afternoon. A tipster told NYC Police that this man had apparently pledged his allegiance to ISIS and planned to harmed officers. Both forces issued a safety alert to officers as a precaution. The man is now being held while both police departments and FBI investigate. The man also had outstanding warrants. Almost two weeks ago, 30-year-old Edward Archer shot and injured Philadelphia Officer Jesse Hartnett in an assassination attempt. Archer claimed he was doing it in the name of the Islamic State. Investigators determined he acted alone and not part of a larger conspiracy.

Sports
Eagles have hired Frank Reich as offensive coordinator. Reich was with the Chargers last season.
