Chester Police say a man has been arrested for posting threats of violence against officers online one day after a 17-year old was arrested for posting threats to shoot up a school online. 23-year old David Milbourne of Media was taken into custody after posting the threats against Chester Police on Instagram and Facebook on Wednesday. Milbourne was apparently upset over the arrest of a 17-year old girl on Tuesday night, after that girl threatened to "shoot up" schools of the Chester Upland School District, the Community Charter School, and Chichester High School. Milbourne is being charged with two counts of Making Terroristic Threats and one count of Harassment.

Philadelphia Water Department officials are assuring residents that the city’s drinking water is safe, after a British newspaper published a story over the weekend saying the department distorts lead testing. The director of the Department’s Lab Services, Gary Burlingame, says, lead in the city’s drinking water averages six parts per billion, less than half what the EPA considers actionable, and bears no resemblance to the tainted water in Flint that inspired the Guardian article. The EPA declined comment.

A trio of Penn students believe they’ve discovered a way to speed-up the fermentation of beer. The idea won Penn’s $10,00 Y-prize. It uses Penn-owned technology to combine microdroplets of sugar liquids and yeast in precisely controlled quantities to maximize the efficiency of fermentation. That could shorten a three-week brewing process to one week. The prize includes the rights to commercialize the application, and Wharton student Siddarth Shah of winning Team Fermento says the big beer makers have been calling.
