Bill Cosby made an appearance in Montgomery County court today as his lawyers attempt to have the case against him thrown out. They called former Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce Castor to the stand to testify. Castor told the court that back in 2004 he believed it would have been impossible to prosecute Cosby because of several factors including lack of forensic evidence from the victim waiting a year to come forward, her going to a lawyer first before the police, and her attempting to record Cosby in order to get money. Castor believed he could help the victim most in her civil trial. He told Cosby that he would not be prosecuted for anything he said during a civil suit against him by the accuser. Current DA Kevin Steele doesn't think the original agreement is binding. Most of the current case is based on Cosby's deposition testimony. Castor told the defense that, "I'm not on your team here... I want them to win."

Chaka Fattah Jr., son of a longtime Philadelphia congressman, was sentenced today on bank and tax fraud. He was convicted on 22 of 23 counts in November related to money stolen from the School District of Philadelphia, misspent loans, and lying to the IRS. The 33-year-old represented himself at trial. Federal Judge Harvey Bartle sentenced him to 5 years in prison. He must also pay $1.1 million in restitution and spend five years on supervised release after prison. The judge denied Fattah's motion to voluntarily surrender and immediately took him into custody. His father, who is also fighting charges, told reporters outside that they plan to vigorously appeal.

Three people were injured following a hit-and-run accident in Point Breeze this afternoon. It happened around 1 p.m. at Broad and Dickinson Streets. A 30-year-old woman was crossing the street with her 6-year-old daughter and infant daughter when they were struck by an older-model red Honda Accord. The car did not slow down or stop and drove off eastbound on Dickinson Street. It did sustain damage to at one of its side view mirrors. All three victims were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital. The woman is in critical but stable condition. The 6-year-old is in stable condition with a broken leg and the infant is in stable condition. The police are looking for any surveillance footage that may have caught the accident or the car as it fled.
