Meek Mill Gets Three Months House Arrest; Supreme Court Denies Kane's Request; Tree Kills Woman

Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill was ordered to spend three months on house arrest for his latest parole violations. Mill, whose real name is Robert Williams, can only leave his house to do community service with organizations that serve adults, not youth. Prosecutors say that he violated parole when he failed to notify and get approval for his travel outside of Philadelphia. Mill attributes this to his erratic concert schedule, while prosecutors believe it is linked to following his girlfriend Nicki Minaj around. Minaj has spent the past six weeks or so here in Philadelphia while Mill awaited sentencing. Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley also tacked on six more years of probation. This all stems from a 2009 drug and gun case.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has denied Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane's request to reinstate her suspended law license. The court voted unanimously in September to suspend her license after she was charged with leaking grand jury material and lying about it under oath. Kane sought the reinstatement on the grounds that Justice Michael Eakin should not have voted. Eakin has since been suspended himself amid allegations he participated in the state's email scandal. The Supreme court ruled that Kane did not seek Eakin's recusal "at the earliest possible time" and therefore waived her ability to object on that basis. Besides minus Eakins' vote it was still unanimous. Kane faces possible removal from office by processes already started in either the state Senate or House.

A woman is dead and her husband is injured after a tree fell through the roof and into their bedroom early this morning in Delaware County. It happened on the 200 block of James Road in Broomall sometime overnight as the couple slept. Officials believe the couple may have been trapped for two hours before someone called 911. It took another 70 minutes to bring in a crane to lift the 90-foot beech tree off of the couple. 79-year-old Alan Cooper was flow to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. He is in good condition. His wife, 77-year-old Marjay Cooper, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators will determine if the weight of this morning's wet snow was a factor in the tree's collapse. Inspectors are also looking at the structural integrity of the home.
