Christie's Disappointing Primary; First Zika Virus in PA and DE; Gun Owner Saves Cop in Upper Darby

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is headed back home after a disappointing finish in the New Hampshire primary. Christie had poured most of his campaign resources into the race but finished 6th out of 8 candidates. Christie says he going back to the Garden State without an ounce of regret and he will decide whether or not to continue in the race.

Pennsylvania and Delaware health officials Tuesday confirmed their first cases of the Zika virus. Two women in Pennsylvania and one in Delaware who recently traveled to countries affected by the virus tested positive. According to state Health Secretary Karen Murphy, they were very, very mild cases: fever, rash, no complications. She did not say whether the PA women were pregnant. The Delaware woman was not. The prime concern about the Zika virus has been reports of babies born with abnormally small heads to women who were infected while pregnant in Brazil, the center of the epidemic in the Americas. Pregnant women who return from affected countries should be tested,

Upper Darby police are grateful to a local gun owner who saved an officer from a gang attack on Friday afternoon. The cop was attempting to break up a fight between two high schoolers when both of them attacked the officer and the surrounding crowd moved in. That’s when the gun owner who saw what was happening brought out his weapon and held the attackers off until police backup arrived. The two juveniles in that fight each were charged with aggravated assault on police, riot, harassment, and related offenses.
