Woman Killed in House Fire, Penn State Holds THON, Shooting in Hunting Park

A woman was killed yesterday in a house fire in Boothwyn Delaware County. The fire broke at around 5 pm, on the 2000 block of Blueball Avenue. The woman was said to be trapped in the second floor of the home when firefighters arrived. There is still no news on what started the fire.

Penn State held THON this weekend; this is the University’s annual dance marathon to raise money to help fight childhood cancer. Students and volunteers stayed up for nearly two days, dancing and raising money to help pediatric cancer patients and their families. The grand total of money raised during the annual dance-a-thon was $9.7 million.

A man and a woman were shot at in their car at around 11 p.m. on Saturday night, in Hunting Park. Both were rushed to Temple University Hospital, the man had been shot multiple times in the chest, arm and hip and was later pronounced dead at the hospital, the woman is in critical condition after suffering multiple shots to the legs and back. There is no word on any suspects or motive in this case.
