Former Miss New Jersey Cara McCollum has died just days after being seriously injured in a car accident in Pittsgrove Township, New Jersey. McCollum was northbound on Route 55 in Pittsgrove Township the night of February 15th when her car veered off the road and struck a tree, then spun again and hit two more trees before ending up in an embankment. The 24-year-old from Margate was alone in her vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt. She remained hospitalized the following day in critical condition. The post states that she died peacefully and surrounded by family in an operating room. The post also states that before she died, McCollum made the decision to donate her organs. According to the Facebook community page Prayers for Cara, McCollum died Monday morning at 4:31 a.m.

Residents in Moorestown, New Jersey will hold a clean water rally before a council meeting tonight where a decision will be made regarding a contaminated well. The township council held an emergency meeting on February 10 with people demanding answers as to why their drinking water is contaminated. Township officials assured residents the water is safe, despite higher traces of chemicals are still being found in the water after more than 2 years. The decision on the well will be made at the Moorestown Town Council meeting and council members and the town manager will vote on whether to shut down the well. Officials say the contaminants are not at harmful levels. The rally will be held at 6:45 p.m. at Moorestown’s Town Hall. The township is already in the processes of building three new water treatment plants and replacing old mains, but those fixes are years away.

The elephants have left the building. Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus elephants made their final appearance yesterday at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia. The circus will retire the elephants to a 200 acre conservation in Florida and has no plans to replace them. Elephants have been part of the circus for 145 years.
