Tens of thousands of Villanova students, alumni, and fans descended upon Center City Philadelphia on Friday afternoon for a victory parade for the 2016 NCAA National Champion Men's Basketball team. The chilly, brisk weather did not stop the roughly 60,000 people from lining Market Street and covering every inch of Dilworth Park around City Hall. The parade started at 20th Street and featured members of the 1985 and 2009 teams, the Villanova University band and cheerleaders, and even the Cardinal O'Hara High School band. The team, coaches, and staff brought up the rear of the parade riding in open air double decker buses. The crowd was about 10 people deep on both sides of Market while spectators clamored to get a view. After the procession arrived at City Hall, there were remarks from Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Mike Stack and Villanova's president Father Peter Donohue with Master of Ceremonies Ryan Fannon, Villanova IMG Sports play-by-play announcer. Head Coach Jay Wright along with players Josh Hart, Phil Booth, Kris Jenkins, Daniel Ochefu, and tournament Most Outstanding Player Ryan Arcidiacono addressed the crowd. After it was over the team said that turnout was “unbelievable” and “overwhelming”, “way more people than I expected.” It was a great day for Villanova, a great day for Philadelphia.

Three people were arrested after a police chase on I-95 in Bucks County this afternoon. The suspects were wanted for the theft of a large sum of money and jewelry from Bristol Township. The chase ended along I-95 Southbound near the Woodhaven Road exit. The three suspects were taken into custody at the time.

Two people were killed and two injured in a one-car crash along Columbus Boulevard near Oregon Avenue early on Friday morning. 23-year-old Ben Jimmy from Upper Darby and a 20-something woman riding in the back seat both died. The 23-year-old female driver and 20-something female front passenger were taken to area hospitals. There are expected to be ok. The incident was captured by the dash cam video of an uber driver. It happened around 2:45 a.m. The uber driver says the black Mazda 6 was running red lights and speeding before it lost control and got stuck on the median. The car then turned 90 degrees and ran straight into the PECO building on the 2600 block of S. Christopher Columbus Boulevard. Police are still investigating the crash. They have not determined if alcohol or drugs played a factor. The driver did not have a valid license.
