April Snow Showers in Philly; 3-year-old Killed in Lehigh Crash; Two Women Stabbed in North Philly

April snow showers swept through the region on Saturday. As much as 5 inches of heavy wet snow piled up on some grassy areas with others just getting a slushy coating. Early April snow is not that unusual. In fact, on this day in history, April 9th, 2000, we had a similar spring snow with a few inches of accumulations. Tonight, behind the storm a Freeze Warning is in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday with low temperatures of 26 in Center City. Just to think that one month ago on March 9th the high was 82.

A 3-year-old girl was killed on Saturday afternoon in a car accident in Lehigh County. The crash happened around 4:40 p.m. Saturday on the 1900 block of Weaversville Road in Hanover Township, PA. The toddler, Nevaeha Lydia Marie Rivera, was thrown from the car when the two vehicles collided. She was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m. An autopsy will be performed on Monday. Authorities are still investigating the accident.

Two women are recovering after being found stabbed in a North Philadelphia home on Saturday night. Police responded to the 5900 block of Champlost Avenue around 7:35 p.m. A 31-year-old woman was stabbed in the right knee, right forearm and left thigh and was also maced. A 27-year-old woman was also stabbed several times in the left shoulder. They were taken to Einstein Hospital in stable condition. No weapons have been found or arrests made. Police are currently investigating.
