Philadelphia Flyers founder Ed Snider has died. Just days after the Flyers clinched a playoff spot. Snider has owned the Flyers since he was awarded the franchise in 1967. Snider had also been a part-owner of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1970's. Snider has been battling cancer for the last 2 years. Ed Snider was 83.

SEPTA's Market Frankford line was interrupted this morning when the train struck someone on the tracks at the 40th Street station. The train was travelling eastbound into the city just after 7 am when the incident happened. SEPTA immediately shut down the train and started bus service between 30th Street and 52nd Street. Delays exceeded 1 hour as a result of the shutdown.

Today is Phillies home opener. The game is underway at Citizen’s Bank Park against the San Diego Padres. Pre-game festivities included the skydiving Navy leap frogs delivering the game ball and Kane Kallas, son of former broadcaster Harry Kallas, sang the national anthem. The Phillies put Aaron Nola on the hill in hopes of continuing the team’s current 2 game winning streak.
