Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney announced his picks for fire and prison commissioners today. He went out of state for the former but stayed in house for the later. 43-year-old Adam Thiel, who has been serving as Virginia's deputy secretary of veterans affairs and homeland security, was named fire commissioner. Thiel was previously fire chief of Alexandria, VA, and served in fire and emergency services in four states. 45-year-old Blanche Carney has been named prison commissioner. She is a 21-year veteran on the Philadelphia Prison System and currently deputy commissioner for restorative and transitional services.

A Catholic High School teacher in Mercer County, NJ, has been accused of inappropriate contact with a female student. 26-year-old Edmund Harman is charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of criminal sexual contact. The incident happened in February when the girl went early to Harman's classroom at Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville for extra credit. He allegedly fondled the girl’s breasts, kissed the back of her neck and massaged her back and legs. He also asked her to send him naked photos of herself. Bail was set at $150,000. Anyone with additional information is asked to call 609-989-6568.

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia has received a $5 million donation from the Wawa Foundation. CHOP has dedicated a new Wawa Volunteer Center inside the Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care. The hospital has also renamed their volunteer program the “Wawa Volunteer Program.” CHOP hopes to increase its program to 1,000 volunteers. The growth will happen at its University City location as well as other network locations around the region. The money will also be used for coffee carts for parents who have children getting treatment in the hospital. Wawa has been supporting CHOP for 160 years.

Tonight,
Clear skies, temperatures falling through the 50's this evening in Center City
