Flyers Fans Disgraceful in Loss; Throat Slashing Victim Critical; Baby Gorilla to be Born at Zoo

The Flyers lost to the Capitals last night to fall behind 3-0 in the series. Flyers fans took Philadelphia's reputation down a couple notches when they threw wristbands onto the ice in frustration. The behavior drew a delay of game penalty. All fans were given the wristbands for a ceremony honoring former Flyers owner, Ed Snider who passed away last week.

Police in Philadelphia are investigating a throat slashing that sent a woman to the hospital in critical condition. The incident occurred just before 3:00 a.m. on the 2900 block of Frankford Avenue in the city's Kensington neighborhood. Witnesses spotted the victim and attempted to wrap a towel around her throat and provide aide. The victim has not been identified by police, and is described as a white female in her 30s. She is in critical condition.

A baby gorilla is on the way. Honi, one of the Philadelphia Zoo's western lowland gorillas, is pregnant. The 21-year-old gorilla is expected to give birth in early fall. Honi is one of five residents in the zoo's western lowland gorilla exhibit. The baby will be the first gorilla born at the zoo in about 20 years. "Honi is doing great but, as with any pregnancy, we are carefully monitoring her health," Keith Hinshaw, the zoo's director of animal health, said in a statement. "Although this is early in the pregnancy, by using ultrasound imaging, we are able to see that the baby has a normal heartbeat, which is a very good sign."
