Wentz QB of Eagles Future; Labor Leader Passes Away; Uber Campaign to Enter Philadelphia

The Eagles grabbed a potential game changer in the NFL draft last night. Carson Wentz won two FCS championships with North Dakota State. And Eagles fans hope he can one day, deliver a Super Bowl to Philadelphia. The 6 foot 5 inch Wentz was called a blue-collar leader who is a good fit for this city and its fans. Eagles coach Doug Pederson said Carson Wentz reminds him of Brett Favre.

Stephen J. Traitz Jr., a colorful labor leader who was the central figure in the Roofers union scandal of the 1980s, died Tuesday at his farm in Trooper, Montgomery County. The former boxer, who attended daily Mass and did not drink liquor, was known for being polite and soft-spoken. However he was caught on FBI tapes and a federal jury concluded, guilty of bribing Philadelphia judges with cash-filled envelopes. Stephen Traitz was 79.

Uber ride sharing is pushing for legislation that would allow for their service within city limits. Uber has created a TV ad encouraging viewers to tell legislators to legalize Uber in Philadelphia. The TV spot shows a woman with a baby on the Philadelphia side of City Avenue trying to flag a cab while on the other side of the street, in Lower Merion a stream of riders hop in Uber drivers’ cars.
