Woman in Pond ID'd; Suspicious Fires at Senior Home; Cycling Classic Sunday

Police have identified the woman found dead in a Chester County creek. 24 year old Ryan Stevyn Benjamin of Pottstown, PA was employed as a pre-kindergarten teacher. Her body was tied to a cinderblock and discovered by a fisherman. Benjamin was known as an outgoing and sociable young woman, with many friends in the West Chester area.

Federal authorities and Philadelphia police are conducting a criminal investigation after a string of suspicious fires at a senior apartment complex. Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives visited the Hamill Mill Apartments in Germantown the scene of four fires in the past two months. The latest happened Wednesday night around 9:00 P.M., forcing evacuations of 20 older tenants.

Cyclists are gearing up for Sunday's Philadelphia International Cycling Classic, the professional bike race that features the Manayunk Wall. The men will race for 110.7 miles on the 12.3-mile course starting at 8 a.m. Eighteen teams will be competing this year. The women's race, which is part of the newly formed Women's World Tour, comprises 19 teams. That race starts at 12:30 p.m. and totals 73.8 miles.
